Hi,
I have a Ruffian heavy canvas tool bag which is about 12 years old. Still good but I want another like it. Canvas preferrably but we are in the Cordura age and that’s acceptable as well. I found Ruffian on the web but they don’t seem awake-won’t answer my emails trying to buy from them.
Anyone else have a favorite or know where I can find a NICE one. No chinese knock offs please. I’m having no luck.
Thanks

My apolgies for saying the same thing. Have you ever dealt with them? I just recieved a catalog and was curious about their service.
Steve,
I have purchased several items from them. I have never had any problems. Excellent service.

Here is a company I know practically nothing about but their catalog loos good. They carry some good brand name items. http://www.duluthtrading.com
I think I have the same Ruffian bag. Off-white canvas, leather bottom, pockets around the sides (inside and out) and the outside ones have a little bungie cord. It is an outstanding bag. But smaller tools find their way to the bottom if your not strict about finding the right pocket when you put them back.
I also have the condura type for my electrical tools, it has ridgid sides and a center divider, dark green and black. Since most of those tools are smaller it works better. I can also seperate the a/c wiring tools form the low-voltage (cat5, coax, etc...). The center divider has elastic that holds hand tools up where they are easy to see and grab.
Both were bought at HD a number of years ago, I think they still sell them.
What "kind" of tools will the bag be for? I think that will help answer what kind of organization your looking for.
You're Dr. Galikowitz? ..... YES I AM...
I just bought one from Rockler (http://www.rockler.com) that I really like. It is the right size for an all-purpose bag with many many pockets inside and out. It isn't big enough for trowel tradesmen. It was remarkably inexpensive.... but nice.
I'd have a hard time not recommending the Occidental brand. Please take a few moments and check them out. I don't think you'll be dissapointed.
Yup,
I have Occidental "carpenters" tool belt bags. I love them, very comfortable and hold the weight better than any others.
I ws looking more for a satchel type. I found Duluth Trading Co. and ordered one of those thanks all who recommended them. I just got and I'm a little disapointed because they said they were made in America and there's a tag inside that says made in Thailand. Not really a big deal but you know how it is.
I'm still deciding weather I'll keep it and it's only because I got one that's to big.

Hi,
Thanks all who responded to my original post and suggesting Duluth Tool Co. I called and ordered a Pro gate Mouth Bag. I was told they are "Proudly Made In Wisconson USA" I received it and the tag inside said "Made In Thailand" Bummer! I felt this was a minor annoyance but I also felt it wasn't the best quality either so I returned it.
Meanwhile I was able to get in touch with Ruffian http://www.ruffianspecialties.com/
They still offer the nice canvas and leather bags I wanted although they have shifted their focus to the firefighting feild. Made in USA. I have a 10 year old one that's in great shape and hase been heavily abused so I'll let ya know what I think of this one.
Their web site isn't the best but their customer service is great. You'll have to call to request a catalog if you can't figure out what you want although their tool bags are limited so it's not too hard to pick.
