A woodworking wanna be, not easy with power tools, I would like to have information about good basic woodworking courses using hand tools. I would like to make a beautiful box and go from there. Interested initially in short, week/two-week long workshops. Any good course that offers both power and hand tool instruction would be valuable as well.

I have taken four classes at Marc Adams School of Woodworking outside Indianapolis, Indiana. I'll return this year for three more. I've had nothing but positive experiences there.
I once had the pleasure taking a chair building course taught by Sam Maloof himself, a great man and considered by most of us as one of the premier woodworkers of our time. He built his beautiful chairs using mostly power tools and big screws in most of his joinery. He would hand them over to an apprentice for final shaping and sanding. I once taught a class on cabinetmaking and I used mostly power tools and I think my students were disappointed that I didn't do everything with hand tools. I guess I'm not Sam!
I don't know where you are or
I don't know where you are or how far you're willing to travel, but down here in Waco, TX there is a good woodworking school. They work almost exclusively with hand tools. I've taken their foundational course and really enjoyed it. In fact, that class is what really got me interested in woodworking. They also have several advanced furniture making classes available after you've completed the foundational course. Their website is.... http://www.homesteadheritage-woodworking.com/
Hope that helps.

Can tune you into the router, drill press, & the art of general woodworking. ***** http://patwarner.com *******
I would second the Marc Adams recommendation as I have taken several courses there and loved every one of them. Several times a year they have week long courses (five days actually) on using hand tools. Chris Gochnour who is a frequent contributor to FWW teaches a course on making a tool chest that will serve you for years to come

I "third" the recommendation for the Marc Adams School.
Great Instructors and a rewarding experience. Once you start taking classes there it will be hard to stop as you come to realize how much there is to learn.
Check the web for Center for Fine Woodworking in Maine.
