So I made this last weekend. I highly recommend the kit and the saw. The instructions are excellent. The saw cuts very well. Making my own handle was fun. I used some air dried cherry from a tree I unfortunately had to take down in my yard a few years back – not typical black cherry – more like apple in its density and feel. A few pics including front and back of one of the first test cuts (tracked very straight) and a pic of the split log I bandsawed the stock from:

Sweet saw and great job on that handle. I didn't realize that Gramercy offered kits like that. Did the tracing for the handle come as part of the kit?

Yeah, the instructions include a full size tracing, and you can print out at as many more as you'd like at Joel's site. There's a link on the page where the kit is offered - click it and you'll get the full instructions including the template, which is the last page.
And thanks for the kind words.
Samson,
Nicely done. I looked at those kits and now that I've seen yours................ Love that handle!
And the material choice is, well you know me with my liking for what I call, "Poor mans' mahogany", in my case probably, "Cheapskates' mahogany".
