Does anyone know where to find “Grants” brand cabinet hardware?
I’m doing some repair work for a customer and the drawer glide hardware was made by a company called “Grants”. I need some replacement parts and ordering them would be less expensive than reworking the cabinets for new hardware.
Thanks

IIRC, Grants is a division of Hettich -- http://www.hettichamerica.com
Dave, Accuride and Grant are interchangeable size and side clearance wise. HD and cabinetmaker supply companies carry them interchangeably also. aloha, mike

They may be interchangable now, but I was looking for parts for 20 yr old glides - lol. The drawer box was ~3/8" narrower than the face frame opening so I couldn't just use a modern glide without rebuilding the drawer to get the necessary side clearances. The actual glide channel was fine - all I really needed was the roller that is screwed to the back of the drawer box. I found several replacement rollers, but their wheels were too big for the old glide channel.
It turned out to be an interesting journey. I found out that Grant was bought out by Hettich several years ago and the old glides have been out of production for quite a while. I was referred to a local cabinet hardware supplier that I hadn't heard of before and they had a replacement set that looked promising.
It took a little modification to beat it into submission, but it finally worked and the home owner was a happy camper. They've sold the house and are moving out of state so the objective was to get the drawer working without spending a bundle. The kitchen cabinets are standard issue tract house cabinets. They still look ok, but could stand some attention from someone (like myself - lol) to get them in really good shape. The HO is going to pass my card to the new owner so I may find myself back out there - lol.
<The HO is going to pass my card to the new owner so I may find myself back out there - lol.>Dare I say it..........lucky you. A new kitchen is quite often a must have for a new homeowner and because its a remodel they usually spend more than the original kitchen....a lot more. Good luck with it. aloha, mike

Yeah, it would be nice but I'm not betting the ranch on it. Very few people actually pop for a kitchen full of custom cabinets - those dreams usually die when they see the number of didgets between the dollar sign and the decimal point - lol. In fact, I've been suggesting that customers look into buying decent quality, unfinished, production cabinets for the basic layout and I'll make the speciality pieces - or modify the production stuff - to meet their specific requirements. No one has signed up yet, but it seems to get more interest.
If I get back out there at all, it will probably be to "tune up" the existing cabinets.
Dave, custom is all I do and I cant make em fast enough. I am buying more machinery soon as I have just completed a brand new 2500 sf shop. Its good now...real good. I hope yours improves. aloha, mike

One of my New Years Resolutions is to move my business more toward cabinetry and woodworking. I have a pretty good customer base for my handyman/light remodeling work, but at my age (60), that work gets harder every day. In addition to the pleasure of designing and building a piece of cabinetry, a week or so in the shop gives my knees and back a much needed break. I just ain't the man I used to be (and some say that I never was - lol.)
I get lots of calls from "tire kickers", but most of them have champagne tastes and beer budgets.

Heh, the bane of every service industry! My goal is for my work to outlast me. Expect my joinery to get simpler as time goes by.
