I’d like to make my Delta Contractor 10″ saw more portable. Currently, it sits on a wheel-less base. I’m considering the Bosch gravity rise stand, but wonder if the stand can accomodate my belt-driven saw.

Anyone know?
Thanks

The gravity rise stand is made for benchtop saws. I think a Delta contractor's saw with the motor sticking out the back would probably tip it over or at least be too heavy. Go to Sears or some other store that has the Bosch with the stand and take a look at it in person.
How portable do you need it to be. To wheel out to the truck and load it up, or just move it across the shop?
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
99% of the time, just to move it across the 'shop' (actually in and out of a closet).Thanksmn
I have a Bosch gravity rise stand for my TS I really like how it operates. I think they are coming out with a similar stand for miter saws. I think you would find the one for a TS too low to operate comfortably.Just my 2 cents worth mind you.Greg
I think that setup might be kind of rickety. The Bosch 4000 weighs 60 lbs or so; your Delta contractors saw probrably weighs close to 200 lbs even without the stand. If you have cast iron extension wings it may well be over 200 lbs and as previously mentioned a lot of that weight is the motor hanging out the back- I don't think it would be well balanced. I suspect with all that weight and the pneumatic tires it may rock around some too. If you're just moving it around on level concrete a mobile base should work fine as would a shop made cabinet base on locking casters.
Thanks for the good insight! as I've been thinking more about this, the Delta mobile base seems like it might be a better option for me.-MN
Just reread your original post. Boy do I feel dumb, somehow I missed that you were talking about a contractors TS not a miter saw. Greg
