I have this mallet (pictured below) that I believe is lignum vitae. You can see some of the jade green grain in the pic, but if it was turned around (I didn’t take the pic for this post), you’d see the entire thing is the same bright green shades. I have a project in mind where I would really like a piece of this bright green wood about 20″ long, 2 1/4″ wide, and at least 3/4 inch thick (preferably 1 inch). Two questions then:
1. Most LV I’ve seen has brown heartwood with maybe some olive colors in it. Does anyone know what LV was used in this mallet that has the bright jade colors?
2. Where might I get some?
Thanks in advance for any help.

oops, forgot the pic:
Lignum vitae can turn green as it oxidizes. http://www.woodfinder.com/woods/lignumvitae.phpBeat it to fit / Paint it to match
I know that A & M wood specialty in Canada has some. It may be bigger than what your looking for though, from what I saw on their website what they have for sale is 4" X 8" X 28" and it's sold by the pound, about $26.00 / pound. They may have smaller stuff in stock though. Their web address is http://www.forloversofwood.com . Give them a call and see what they've got. Cheers.

I have bought some before that green color & it was called the vera (sp) variety & all of it has stayed that color. The wood is so oily I dont know what you would use for a glue if you wanted to glue it to something, I still have some pieces left so I will have to look & see If I have a large enough leftover for you.
