I am considering getting a Grizzly 0586 jointer and wondered if anyone has one and how they like it…pros and cons…cut quality. I would also be interested in how you got it into your shop. Can you do it with two people and a dolly (basement shop with door to backyard)?
Thanks

I have the 0593- the same jointer as the 0586, but with the spiral cutterhead. I've only had it a month, but I like it quite a bit.
I wrestled mine down my basement steps myself, laying out planks to slide it on. I used a differential hoist to raise the tables onto the base. I managed but, it would be easier with two people (the hoist is a good isdea, though). I mounted the jointer on a mobile base in case I have to reposition it later.

I am also looking at the Grizzly 8 inch jointer. Please let me know if you get any further feedback. I have read a lot but not sure which direction to go yet. Thanks.
I have the G500 which is essentially the same machine as the G586, except for country of origin. The machine has very good cut quality, relatively low noise and a low first cost. While many have reported perfect machines out of the box, mine required resetting of nearly everything incuding the knives. The knives however were sharp. I am happy with the machine and I did expect to have set up work. FWW had a review of 8" jointers in Aug. 2005 issue and there have been several others since.
If I were buying now I might consider the G490, many consider the parallelogram design superior in the long run. With freight it isn't much more, however it is a new unit for Grizz.
I had four people to carry the G500 down the basement stairs and it was a relatively easy task.
Just a word of caution on shipping, shipping damage on any jointer is a risk. If there is any damage to the shipping container be sure to indicate it on the shipping documentation and I'd check with Grizz for correct wording at the time of order entry. Document everything with pictures if you have an issue, including the packaging before opening. Good luck and enjoy the new machine.
My G0593 arrived in 2 cartons ~400 lbs. Neither was damaged, but some have not been as lucky. If you have a digital camera, I'd have it ready. Check the shipment carefully, if there is major damage to the cartons, you should probably refuse it. If it is less severe, photograph any damage and note it on the BOL when signing for delivery. If you discover a problem inside, the notes and pictures can be a real help in getting satisfaction from customer service.Glaucon

Hi. I ordered my 586 in December and was told 586's were back-ordered due in mid to late February. Just in case you need it really soon...
FWIW, when I did my research it seemed the majority of people hadabove average opinions of the 586 and may be average feelings about the condition on delivery. The Yorkcraft looks competitive but there seems to be more experience, positive experience, with the 586 in this price range.
Good luck.
