Just got one. I've been very happy with it so far, but I haven't done a lot of major projects with it. I'm making some table legs this weekend so I'll be able to tell you more about it after that. One thing I would like to point out though. If you get the riser block you will need to make an adjustment to the stops on the tensioning screw. It's not really documented anywhere, and I had to call Grizzly to find out that one.
Clint, I appreciate the info. I am thinking the saw will fill my needs. I really could get by with a 12" saw but I like the idea of the riser just in case I want to resaw some wider red oak that I have on hand. Again, thanks for the help. Bobby
As Clint says, the tension block adjustment that's required when you add the riser is NOT documented anywhere. I also had to contact customer support -- I thought they'd sent me the wrong bandsaw blade. Once you know what to do, it's pretty simple, and I'd not have given in a second thought if it had been documented in the install instructions.
The G0555 seems to be a terrific bandsaw. I've successfully resawed 4/4 8" maple stock with a 1/2" Woodslicer blade with no problem -- the Woodslicer blade is a dream.
The stock fence on the G0555 is a little squirrely -- it doesn't square up until it's clamped, and you have to learn how much it's going to move from where it sits unclamped to where it's going to be when you clamp it. On my saw, it's pretty consistently an 1/8" of an inch. I've gotten pretty good at eyeballing it now though, and it generally only takes about a 1/32 "bump" one way or the other from where I initally place the fence.
I appreciate the reply, for the money I think I can overcome the fence problem. Thanks again !! Bobby
Got one, and it's a great deal for the $$$$. Nothing I found is even close for the money. Anything close is over $200 more right now.
Thanks for the input I think I am going to buy one.It sure looks good for the money. Thanks again , Bobby
