I posted for the first time a couple of days ago but got no response. I don’t know if I posted incorrectly, so I thought I’d try again. I am considering a Grizzly 19 in. heavy-duty bandsaw. This is a new item in their catalog and looks good to me. My question is has anyone tried one of these or seen one in person?
I have been using a Rockwell/Delta 14 in. with a riser block for many years now and would like to get a little heavier duty machine for re-sawing. I figured that I could sell my 14 in. saw with all accessories and some blades and come out not having to spend too much more money to get the 19 in. Grizzly. Any thoughts?
Thanks, KC

Sorry you're not getting any input here, KC. Must not be anyone who has that particular bandsaw. There's a Knothead named Bart who has a whole, beautiful shop full of Grizzly machines, maybe he'll see the post and respond. In the meantime, you might want to try the Wood forum also:

I have a small (14") Grizzly bandsaw and have followed the forums for Grizz info over the past couple years. My impression is that the saws get better as they get bigger.

Forestgirl, thank you for your suggestion and link to the wood magazine forum. In doing a search over their, I discovered that someone has bought the 17 in. version of the saw and thought that it was a good saw, but had been led astray by the manual as far as band length was concerned. Something like 1/2" too long, making it not possible to tension the blades.
I'm still gathering information, but the saw looks to be a good match for my operation (guitar making). I'm thinking that I will sell my Rockwell/Delta 14 in. saw. Anybody have an idea how much I can expect? I bought it knew in 1973. :-) It has the riser block and rip fence, a good 1horse motor and an open oak stand.
Thanks again, KC
KC: Sell your 14" Rockwell/Delta BS .Yikes..<G> Thats a sure way of gettin tossed out of the Famed Delta Club..LOL... noticed that FG hinted about Wood mags forum, theres a really cool one at Woodnet also thats workbench mags forum I hang my hat over there also, nice bunch of guys & Gals there too...

I own the 16" Grizzly bandsaw, resaw height is limited to about 7 3/4". The 19" saw is new and I imagine that there are not many owners as yet. The 16" saw is excellent, I use this saw about 4 hours a week. Only problem was the switch went bad after 2 1/2 years. New switch less than four dollars but shipping was more than cost of switch. Excellent customer service, very good value for the money.
Contact Grizzly , they may have customers within your area that have used the 19" saw. They have a toll free # 1-800-523=4777 for customer reference service.

Mike, Thanks for the thoughts! I called Grizzly Friday afternoon and found that indeed they had sold few of these critters yet. I'm in Connecticut and they had only sold three in New England so far, two in Massachusetts and one in New Hampshire. I asked for a customer who was a business user and the closest one was in Buffalo, NY.
I am glad to hear that your experience with owning the 16" saw has been good.
Thanks again, KC
KC,
I haven't seen the saw. I've closely looked at the 18" and 20" saws they had in their catalog last year. I think they're still there.
The 20" was a much better machine. The top wheel blade tensioning devise and the wheel adjustments were all nicely machined. On the 18" they were just die-cut and stamped sheet steel. I don't have a clue how the 19" is built but, if it's like the 20", I'd think it was pretty good--if like the 18", it could be better.
