Grizzly 20 planer with spiral cutter head
Any one own one of these? I’m considering one but would like to hear from an owner. This would be my first grizzly purchase.

grizzley planner
I do own a grizzley 20" planner with segmented cutters. It is a 5 hp single phase model and have had it about 3 years. It works really well especially with figured woods. It does leave about 1 1/2 inches of snipe on the outgoing surface that I can't figure out how to adjust out. If I lift gently on the opposite end of the outgoing board as it leaves the planner the snipe just about completely dissappears though. I also have a Bridgewood 16" spiral head jointer that is really nice. It is 84" long and is really a beast. Super smooth cuts with the cutters. I just turned the cutters a 1/4 turn after 3 years of use and figure at that rate the cutters will last 12 years without replacing and that's good because there are about 100 of them. I did make some dust collection modifications that I could send photos of with an email address. The photo shows me unloading the planner at my shop after picking it up in PA.
Thanks, Shawn
