Sorry for posting this but I tried the archives and can’t find anything there. I wish to purchase a Bandsaw for resawing which will probably see light use. Has anyone purchased the Grizzly G0513X. For the price it seems to be quite a deal. Would appreciate any comments regarding bandsaws. I am aware that it is not a Laguana or MM but it is half the cost. TIA

2x4,
I think Bones bought one and has been very happy. He posted pictures of his delivery and set up about 2 years ago...it may be in the archive.
I have one a really like it. I've had it for a while now, and would buy grizzly again. It's got the features I wanted and at a price point I could live with. I will say they have a new one that has a bigger top for a few hundred more you might want to look at. I will suggest that you use suffolk machinery's timber wolf blades. I have not had any problems. Here is the link to my original post and review. It has pics and other information. I just used it to resaw some cedar for drawer bottoms last week and it's still on the mark. As a hobbyist, it has been a great investment. I also have the Grizzly TS, Horizontal boring machine, and soon to acquire the 8" jointer. Good luck on the decision. If you have any questions let me know.

Thanks for bringing your previous post to my attention. I assume the new model that you are referring to is the same model with an X at the end. I am going to their PA store next week and will probably buy one. Thanks again
Brian
Take a look at the total weight of the non-X compared to the X if you go with the Grizzly, 2 X 4. The X is heavier because it has a cast iron fence and cast iron wheels (and other features) as compared to the aluminum. The extra $100 is well worth it to get the cast iron wheels.
That extra weight may not seem too important at a glance, but it will make a world of difference in vibration when virtually all band-saws come with rigid steel back-frames now because of the prohibitive cost of cast iron.
Good luck and enjoy lugging that baby in the shop.... :>)

I agree with you on the extra weight. I had read your posts relating to Steel City and other brands of BS. I am trying to balance the" you get what you pay " for versus the extra $500 for say a Steel City which is on sale at a local woodshow for $1495 CDN . The Steel City does look like a nice saw. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Bones just mentioned the bigger cast iron table = more weight plus more work surface. ha.. ha...
You mentioned you would be doing re-sawing but not on a heavy, everyday basis. I think the X might be a good match for your requested intentions in the way it's equipped to $$ ratio. Especially since you can pick it up local and save the truck freight. Sounds like a winning combo to me!
And not everyone needs a bigger BS. I would love to have a 36" Tannewitz.. but I can't afford, don't have the space and don't need it for what I do on a BS. S 10 pick-up.. C 10 pick-up.. dually.. 2 1/2 ton truck and a Peter-bilt. They all do the job well, if matched properly to the job you need done!
Regards...

Yes this is the xtreme model. It has some heavier stuff, but the biggest advantage I saw was the bigger table.
