Am considering a Grizzly 5 speed bench top radial drill press, mainly to cut mortises on angles and or drill on angles. Price is not bad, buthas anyone any experience with Grizzly and are they considered to be a quality tool provider. Thanks

Wndncr,
I have two Grizzly machines, the 1 hp shaper and the 9" disk/6" x 48" belt combo sander. I bought both at the same time (to save on shipping) about 12 years ago. I have had no problems with them. The shaper is under powered which is expected for a 1 hp $275 machine. It does not get used too often but I do have plans for some more raised panel doors soon. I love the sander that thing gets used all the time and it can eat some wood. One of the best tools I ever bought $175.
Enjoy, Roy
There are many threads on this board dealing with Grizzly. Use SEARCH to read up.
Most people acknowledge that the quality of Grizzly equipment is not quite as good as the top name brands, but with a little adjusting and tweaking the equipment is fine for all but the most demanding applications. Grizzly has an excellent Technical Support and Customer Service center. If your drill press arrives damaged you can bet you will have replacement parts asap.
I have their 3 hp shaper and I love it.

Wndncr,
I don't have the Grizzly but I do have a radial drill press. I think they are terrific, however, the runnout is a bit higher than on a non-radial drill press unless you go for a high end model. I would strongly suggest you get the floor model rather than the table top. They require a lot of space on a table top for the back and forth. If you put on a seperate stand that will cost extra and probably more than the floor model price differential. I move mine around quite a bit ...over to the project...and the floor model has a smaller foot print than a stand would have. good luck
If memory serves me correctly, the first thing Grizzly started making was drill presses. The reviews i've read all seem to say that not everything grizzly makes, is great, but the drill presses are a quality product. That being said, i've never tried one, so i can't give any personal experience.
But i think the general thinking is that grizzly isn't exactly top of the line, but for the money, you can't beat a lot of their stuff.
