I plan on buying a jointer, within the next few weeks. Which jointer in your opinion would be a better buy, either the Grizzly G0586 or the Grizzly G0656? I realize that the G0656 has a 3HP motor versus the 2HP motor of the G0586 and a built in mobile base, but the 586 was an available spiral cutter head. Is the availability of a spiral head an option that would outweigh the stronger motor and the built in mobile base?

Mike,
Take a look at our Editor's Mailbox blog entry, "Great News at IWF 2008, which discusses the growing prevalence of spiral cutterheads. As we say in the blog, all that we've tried so far cut extremely well. If everything else is equal, then in my opinion you'd do well to choose the machine with the spiral cutterhead.
Hope this helps.
