I would like some feedback from anyone who has purchased the Grizzly Model G0490 8″ Parallelogram Jointer. I use to own the Delta 8″ Parallelogram and had it for years with great success, the Grizzly is considerably cheaper but is the money I save worth it?

I have not purchased or owned either, so you might want to rule my opinion out here, lmarkert. But... I have used each for a brief period and examined both at the recent Atlanta IWF show more or less side to side, so here's what I concluded as I had thoughts of a future jointer up-grade to to 8"-10"-12".
Both cut stock well and left a smooth finish on maple. The main frame and minor design looks awful similar. Almost like they came from the same assembly line as say the Jet and Sunhill 6" which I researched several years ago. Hmmm..... ?
The Griz had a 3 HP 220V motor, the Delta a 1 1/2 HP 120/240V.
The Griz had a 4 blade cutter-head, the Delta a 3 blade.
The Griz infeed table is a couple of inches shorter than the Delta but both have almost the same over-all table length.
Both weight almost the same....
The Grizzly is about $750.. the Delta is $1600 +..
The last comment concerning price is the big difference in what I personally viewed!
Good luck making the call...

I appreciate your comments. The Grizzly does have a larger motor and one extra blade than the Delta which makes the deal a little sweater. I have read other forums about this Jointer and most sound good, I think I will give it try.
If I were in immediate need of an 8" and even if money were not an issue, my personal choice would be the Griz that you are eyeing. They seem to have listened to customer feed-back and have kept improving their jointer line while still maintaining a very competitive price. I'm not saying it is perfect (as no machine is perfect regardless of price), but it is the best bang for the buck in the 8" category, IMO.
I have seen some nice Euro 12" and 16" out there that come with a Euro price tag. If I were to go this route, I would go back and check the Grizzly 12"-16" (I didn't go over them well at the IWF as time didn't allow) before I went abroad for the purchase. I can't say if they compare or not (maybe not as over 8" is not the hot-spot amongst comepetitors and these machines may not have been addressed as well as the 8" yet) , but at that price range it would be worth a drive from me to St. Louis or Pa. to the nearest Griz show-room just from what I have seen in their effort to get a good 8" on the market.
Regards...
