Hi, Jeff-
I bought a 1023Z with a sliding table about a year ago. It is very accurate but somewhat limited in size capacity. The rail can be attached at the rear of the table allowing for wider stock though. The rail has a sliding stop and is configured for attachments like hold down clamps. The rollers move along a round rail and can be adjusted to very close tolerances. The rail can be moved to beyond 45 degrees to cut any angle you want. I think the rail itself is about 40" long (not home as I write this.)
What you do lose is cutting ability with the fence on the LEFT side of the blade since the fence rails have to be cut down in order to accomodate the sliding table. This to me is a small price to pay.
The table and roller setup comes off easily in about 45 seconds and goes back on just as quickly. The round rail upon which the traveling table moves should be considered a permanent part of the saw once it's on. Removable but a real job to get off and back on.
In sum I am quite pleased. I don't see any competition at all for the price and quality.

Windy,
Thanks for the information on the Grizzly slider. Actually, I am considering a Grizzly saw myself, and would like to use a slider with it.
However, I think Jeff was talking about a very different machine!
Here is a link to the one he is talking about:

This looks like a Euro-style machine, made by Grizzly. It costs as much as some Felders, so I wonder if Grizzly is competing with Felder, or whether they are offering a LOT more than Felder.
This is very interesting, to say the least!

Hi, Matthew-
Yeah, you're probably right. I think the slider he is talking about probably costs a little more than the $285.00 I paid for mine. I'll bet it's a little heavier also.
Anyway folks can see what I think about my "Little Griz"!

Can't say I'm familiar with the Grizzly. Do know that I've never been able to bring myself to trust their tools enough to buy one. I suscribe to the notiion that you get what you pay for. I do know the Felder because I own and use daily a Felder combination machine. They are excellent tools and well worth their cost. Owned a Robland before the Felder and there is no comparison. When I first bought the Robland I thought it was great. After acquiring the Felder, it was like a whole new level of precision and quality. If the Grizzly is close to the pricew of a Felder, I'd go Felder for sure.
