Grizzly vs General Jointer
I have the opportunity to purchase a used 12″ jointer. Actually, I can purchase a Grizzly G609 for $1,300 or a General 80-300M1 for $2,500. I don’t know the pros and cons of each and would appreciate any information about and experiences with each tool. If you could buy one jointer, which one whould you buy? Thanks for your help.

One is as bad as the other
Chinese made. The general brand was good before they farmed it out to the Taiwanese as well. There is plenty of old American cast iron still available, right now there is a Northfield and a Porter on ebay in your price range.
I don't want to hijack a thread, but..
I have an "American" [brandname] 12" X 84" jointer for sale in NC Arkansas for $2000.
Every piece that moves has been replaced [almost] to include a 3hp. single phase motor.
I have an 8" Yates- American that satisfies my workload these days so the 12" is surplus iron......
