Inspired by a bench upgrade article in another woodworking publication – a very popular one – I decided to add some t-track to the front edge of my existing bench. I had to come up with a way to groove the front 3/4 wide and 1/2″ deep (about 4 feet long) AND I didn’t want to have to move the bench (e.g., turn it on its side etc.) AND I wanted a flawless groove so as not to mess up my bench. I came up with a pretty sure fire way to do this – I doubt my idea is original, but I’d never seen it, so I thought I’d share if anyone else ever faces a similar task. The attached pics are sort of self explanatory – the first is the bench with the T-track added, and the second is a pic of how I routed the groove. With gravity on my side, I had two-face registration and no way for the router bit to stray in any direction. Hope this is helpful.
It wouldn’t let me substitute reformatted attachments in edit mode, so the pics are in message 6 below. Sorry!

Great idea.. How about a picture of a 'mock up' of the router in action.

As you wish, sir:
Thank you...
resized your photos for you, try not to use .bmp files. Use .jpg's instead. Much smaller files.
Thanks. I usually use jpg's, but I had sent them in an e-mail and somehow in the process, they became bmp's. Don't know how.

(Added a pic of the resulting groove with T-track in place and one of the sleds (credit to Rob Porcaro on the sled and jig designs!).
