I would like to make a set of grooving planes from Matt Kenney’s article in #219 May/June 2011 Issue. However, I no longer see the blades available on the US Lie Nielsen website, nor do I see blades on Lee Valley, Hock, or Woodcraft. I am specifically looking for 3/16 blade for small drawer parts. My Question: am I stuck with making my own, or do you fine people have an idea of where I may purchase a set?

I'm sure there is a way of using a blade from the Veritas combination plane: http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.aspx?p=75778&cat=1,230,41182,43698,75622,75778
I would be remiss if I didn't post a link to Matt's planes... https://www.finewoodworking.com/2011/04/07/make-a-pair-of-grooving-planes
Lie Nielsen still has the full range of tapered moul ding plane irons. Order the 1/4" blades, and grind a wee bit off the sides to fit your planes.
Remember, you'll have to heat treat these, but you were going to have to do that with the drawer bottom blanks.
You could also call Lie Nielsen and see if they have them, or ifvth ey will be making moire. But really, grinding 1/16 off of the 1/4 blank is very easy.
