Grounding Portable Dust Collector
I’ve seen grounding kits for dust collectors and wonder if someone could share their experiences about them. I have a Jet that I connect to whatever tool I’m working on. The static here in Las Vegas is pretty high due to low humidity. How do you go about grounding them? Used to ground helicopters prior to re-fueling in ‘Nam but what do you ground the collector hose to? Is a copper wire that’s attached to the sawdust collector and then to whatever machine you’re using all that’s required? Appreciate any help/advice I can get. Thanks,

If you have maetal ducting then grounfding is easy. If you are using any of the PVC ducting products, grounding is almost impossible.
I find static dischrge a problem only when using the 4" duct to vacuum up around the floor. Some pretty good arcs form between the hose end and anything metal - or me. While the hoses are connected to the machines I am never bothered by static.
