Y’all gotta start making forum titles something indicative of the post. An off-topic and (debatably) funny title doesn’t help you get the information you’re looking for… and many times, it is not something I want on the homepage. More importantly, it doesn’t help someone in the future who might have the same question.
Let’s start using titles that help you get the information you need, but also help people find the information in the future. This isn’t a running conversation between you and your buddies.

No more turds in punchbowls, check.
I saw that last night and couldn't figure out the connection, but it did make me wonder where the guy goes for a drink. This morning I saw Ben's change and couldn't remember what the title had been so thanks for reminding me.
I saw it after ben's change, but recognized the username also on Canadian woodworking forum, headed there for the same post with original title
Work trained me to use email subject lines and titles on slides to convey the essence of the message. As such, you and I are aligned here. I would say it's even more important now than it was 10 years ago. YouTube changed the way content publishers make money. As such, many content providers have transitioned to click bait titles for their YouTube videos. It drives me crazy. As such, if I see a turd of a title on this or other forums, I won't click on it.
It all too easy to become so concerned about making a post title explicit, unambiguous and complete that the whole post ends up in the title field!
On the other hand, some feel a short and mysterious title can encourage a wide range of replies, one of which might be just what you needed to know; and others of which impart interesting info you didn't realise you needed to know, or even could know.
I like that 1/8" one.
I can't disagree with this. There are plenty of times I feel like my title or subject line in an email is all that is needed.
You might find this funny. My boss and I work very well together and are an effective time. We are complete opposites when it comes to slide titles. I want the key message in the slide. She wants it more generic. There is no absolute right answer. Since she is boss, we make it the way she wants it. To that no right answer point, once I said to her, in a 1:1 where we were going over slides, "you know if the roles were reversed and I were the boss, we'd have the titles the way I like them." She said kind of smiled say "yes" and we both laughed. End of the day it was a moot point. Happy to read questions on the forum as long as I have some idea of what it might be about.
It's not isolated to last night's post. There are a lot "what do I do?" or "I like that video" titles on this forum. I'm gonna start being a jerk about it... that's all that has changed.
I'm pretty sure we don't need you to be a "jerk about it". Just a thought...respectfully. Maybe like a kind and benevolent...Hagrid.
Yes, I have a history of ruling with an iron fist around here. It was tongue-in-cheek.
O1, A2 or PMV11?
THAT'S funny
Well tell me then - what DO I do?* I've wanted to know for years.

I guess this rules out my next post of “You won’t believe the question I have!”
Does anyone know what this is?
How would you fix that?

Is this supposed to smell?
PLEASE tell me we've had a "Bed"!!!
Here ya go...

Now I want to make an Unk bed. Does anyone know where to find the unks so I can measure their height, width and girth? Making a bed too short for an unk would be a faux pas of the worst kind.
You are being a punisher, plz stop.
"This isn’t a running conversation between you and your buddies."
Good luck with that one...
Thanks Ben
From personal experience, I know it can be like herding cats
Experience suggests that most of the less helpful titles come from first time posters. I'm not sure how this post will add much but comment to keep it in the top 6 a bit longer.
When you are titling your thread pause and think "what would I search on if I was trying to find this?".
Bandsaw = too vague
Question About Bandsaw Guides = better
Question on Hammer N2-35 Bandsaw Guides = better still
Oh yeah . . . somewhere I heard that a picture is worth a thousand words . . . they were right ;-)
