Thanks and same to you.
I spent the day with my Dad. We went to Woodcraft (Manchester,CT). Good way to spend part of the day. :-) (and I only spent $17)
He gave me his lathe (30" at most) and his drill press mortising chisels - I gave him a Starret Tri-square with the centering square and protractor.

I guess the homeland security isn't worried about molitoff(sp?) cocktails, she waltzed through with 8 bottles....lol.
Congrats on the 50 years. Do you have your eye on a Trophy Wife now, or are you going to stick with your first?....he,he Mine after 30 years has a bit of cup and twist...

BG, Ah, the first time I had 'Ah Beets'Was 1946 in the Bronx's Little Italy on Arthur Avenue. Up til that time, my identification with Italian food was spaghetti and meatballs.I believe the G I's brought back the taste for Pizza from their service in Italy? WW 2
I was 16 at the time and many of my friends hadn't a clue what 'Ahbeets' was. (Even some whose parents who were born in Italy)I worked in New York City and took many girl friends to Little Italy
For Calimari, Shrimp Scampi at Vincent's and Dessert at Ferrara's for Espresso and Rhum Babas or Canollis.(Maybe a shot of Annisette) Now that I live in Ct, I prefer 'First and Last'Tavern (Hartford)for the best pizza in CT.
They make their own sauce and use sun dried tomatoes, chunks of pepperoni and the finest olive oil.
Homemade bread by the bowlful to munch while they prepare the pies. If you prefer to eat Al Fresco, they have sidewalk seating and an army of waters/waitresses. Oh why did I start this I'm starving now
I think i'll stop at mr son's house and help him 'knock off' the big doggybag of pizza left over from last evening. MANGIA!

Steiinmetz,
Mangia my butt you old s.o.b. now ya got me going too...damn! I'll never forget the little hole in the wall in little Italy, Manhattan back in 74. My father, brother and I were all working in NY...we could not stand up straight when we left the rest. and smelled like garlic for three days.
Pardon me, but I still genuflect when I pass Pepe's on Wooster St. in New Haven. Nobody has a brick oven in constant operation for as long as Pepe's...and the hard wood charcoal....the pies, to die for...
damn...slurp
Bg, used to drink beer all night then a bunch of us guys and girls would drive to Patsy's pizzeria in Italian East Harlem 112th st& 2nd Ave

Pizza from their service in Italy???
NA.... it was invented here in Chicago.. NYC took it from US!
Will,
If NY did steal Pizza from Chicago, they sure as hell improved it as it came east....lol. It would have been nice if they had taken the Brats too and the pumpernickel brick from Baltic bakery...oh the things I miss..
I was in Manhatten a few times.. I walked into a Delli' and asked fer a Ham Sammich...
Will, that's funny. Not all Delis are strictly kosher in New york.
Those that are, usually have the tastiest sandwiches. Of course pork is a no no, but so is milk or dairy products.Being young and wet behind the ears when I was a teenager, my boss took me to lunch at a Jewish Deli. When the waiter was about to take my order, I asked for clam chowder (It was friday) Every one in the place laughed out loud. I settled for Specials and beans, but then asked for a glass of milk.
More laughs! No butter on bread but the trick is to use Mustard. Yum.
Steinmetz
I believe that.. I use to do it just to see what yould happen... LOL...
I remember Manhatten... Walkin in the early morning to the 'show place'' I forget the name.. Street vendor lady.. I got a cup of Coffee.. Begal and Lox WITH EXTRA Cream cheese..
I ordered TWO.. One for my lady friend I was with....
I hander her a $20.00 dollar bill.. SHe looked at me and said both were $3.00 with the tip.. Did I have anything smaller?? She said if she keeps cash she get robbed...
I gave her the 20 and told her to hide in in her Bra..
