I’m making some outdoor furniture using half laps. Wood is white oak. It may go from SW Colorado to a humid climate in the east. Am I asking for trouble? Below is a picture of the glue up, before shaping.

How are you fastening the joints? If you're using mechanical fasteners like bolts or screws, you'll be fine. If you're gluing the joints, make sure the glue is exterior grade. The preferable method would be mechanical fasteners.
IMHO, the structure you pictured shouldn't have any other issues.
