Can anyone recommend where I can send a good hand saw to have the teeth sharpened and set?

Fraid not....but I'd be happy to teach you how to do it in 20 minutes or so...child's play....my first job as a 12-year-old in Uncle Paul's boatshop over 4 decades ago.
This is the best treatise on it I've seen....sounds complicated, but ain't...this guy will recut teeth for you and sell you the files...any two boards in a machinist's vise will work for a sawvise.

And don't fall for the voodoo that talks to special filing for hardwoods/softwoods....you'll pick that up later....in the meanwhile, any reasonable filing job you do will surpass a professionally-filed saw after it's first dozen boards.

Jim,
You might want to pick up Tom Law's video: "Hand Saw Sharpening" by ALP productions. It's thorough and the material is patiently and thoughtfully presented. A succinct flyer accompanies the video.
Law completely demystifies the process - with a few simple tools I was able to tune up all of my hand saws in an afternoon; now they cut quickly and predictably.
I'm not sure, but I think I got my copy from Cambium Press.
Good luck,
Paul
