Does anyone know where I can get handsaws sharpened in the Boston area?
Thanks,

You could look in the phone book or ask at a woodworking store. If they're worth anything as a sharpener, people will know about them. Rockler stores usually have a list of people who offer specialized services.
rshelly,
Woodcraft provides the service too.
I was in a woodworking school in Western MA a few years back and we shipped our saws to a guy in MD for re-sharpening or putting a new tooth pattern into them. There was a local place that sharpened our machine blades and they would do handsaw work as well but they used a punch for putting in new teeth instead of filing them in. That punch method is not good for older saws with very had steel. An old saw I came across was deemed 'no good' and perhaps had lost its temper by the machine sharpening outfit b/c their tool was breaking the saw blade when it punched the teeth. This guy pointed out that it was actually a good saw with a very hard blade. He sharpened it into a wonderful rip saw.
Anyway - not sure if he's still around or if he's doing saws still but his name is Tom Law. Ph# is 301.824.5223.
Don't know about in the Boston area but these guys do great work for a reasonable price. Shipping handsaws is not a big deal. Another poster mentioned Tom Law who no longer sharpens saws.
