Hello all,
I am practicing my hand sharpening on some DMT diamond stones.
I have a chisel that I have boogered up a little bit and it has a very noticable skew. It is a 6mm chisel, I usually don’t have problems on the larger chisels.
But question is, any tips on correcting a skew and making the blade edge square again, aside from using some sort of jig?
I will use a jig if I have to or a sharpening guide if necessary but I try to shy away from those things because I want to be proficient without them. Also as a side note, I can usually get pretty close by applying more or less pressure on one side or the other. Invariably I always get out of square though. I follow the Paul Sellers method of sharpening.

Grind off the edge
Hold your chisel flat on the bench with the edge free. Hold the stone at 90 degrees to the cutting edge strike it off square. The flat blunt edge left will serve as a guide, then simply carefully hone at your preferred angle to bring your cutting edge back down to the bottom of the flat.
