I’m trying to find someone who will do a good job sharpening western-style handsaws. I have a 20-TPI dovetail saw and a couple of tenon saws that need some extensive work, either coz they’re worn or because I made a mess of them myself. Adria tools recommends a place in Pennsylvania, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any others, especially any here in Canada.

Bear in mind that unless they're sharpened by hand, the fleams are not likely to be done correctly.
I'd suggest you pick up some Nicholson files, read up on it, and have at it yourself.
http://www.vintagesaws.com/library/primer/sharp.html is a pretty good place to start.
Goldsmith's in Prescott ontario they do most of eastern & central ontario
Thanks to both of you for your replies!

I would just get NEW Saws!
Why would you "Just get new saws?" Why discard perfectly good saws just cause they get dull. Get 'em sharpened or sharpen them yourself. I have hand saws that I use all the time, building log homes, that were my Grandfather's and Uncle's. They cut just as well today as they did the day they bought them. Actually, they cut better then the saws of today, because they are made of much better quality steel then the saws of today. People today are always so ready to just throw things away that become dull or don't work like they did the day they were "NEW!"CARPENTERDON

Amen! Once I learned to sharpen my own hand saws, dovetails became a joy.
