I am assuming Ol’ Hans used dowels to join the legs and aprons on his 3 legged chairs, but I am concerned that the front leg would be made weak by the two aprons being doweled at the same place? Has anyone out there had any experience repairing these to see how they were constructed? Plans would be great as well!
Thanks!

I think a double mortice would be my choice with each tennon angled to meet its mate. Dowels or mortice that is one stress point.
