I am new to this forum but have enjoyed perusing the posts on here from time to time. I need some advice and hopefully some info….I am in the Charlotte, NC area and am looking for suppliers of rough cut lumber. I plan on resawing it, jointing and planing it to the desired dimensions. Right now I am looking for hard maple to make a workbench. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Over 80 % of the furniture made in this country is from your state, North Carolina, and most of that is from the High Point area. I'm sure you'll find lumber dealers in your yellow pages.
best of luck,

colonel,
I've dealt with Wall Lumber in Mayodan, NC, north of Greensboro, for many years. No disappointments yet.

Hi Steve,
I too have been looking for local resources for lumber in the Charlotte NC area. Here is a local resource that I found, that have have not personally used to date, but sounds interesting, its Edwards Custom Sawmilling and Lumber..

Sounds like resource is only 30 miles north of greater Charlotte NC area.
Best of luck
Used to be a place in Fort Mills for hardwood/sheetgoods. 1980's, can't remember the name
Have you tried Charlotte Hardwoods? I bought some rough hard maple there a few years ago. They can be pricey since they were bought out 2 or 3 years ago but they usually keep a large selection of woods, both domestic and exotic. The Woodcraft Store and the Woodworking Store also carry limited amounts of wood but theirs is usually S4S lumber.
