I have antique brass finishes thruout my house. With a particular handrail bracket available only in brass, how do i accelerate the patina to mimic an antique finish?

Make sure that the new bracket is solid brass, as I don't believe it will work with brass plated steel. I have antiqued brass pins by letting them soak in white vinegar for a day or so. If they are coated with lacquer, you will need to remove the coating first. I think ammonia will work as well.
