I’m looking at hardwood flooring that’s described as “riffed and quartered”. I know what quartered (quarter sawn) means, what is meant by riffed?

It's "rift" sawn and the growth rings run at angle to the wide face of the board at between 30 and 60 degrees while a quartersawn board's growth rings run from 60 to 90 degrees.
AhHa. Thanks.
No problem. Rift sawn is less stable across its width than quartered wood, but more stable than a board sawn with rings than run parallel to the face.
