Does anyone in the Twin Cities area know a good supplier of hardwood. I have Rocklers up here but they don’t have much selection unless they have a special. Currently I use Lake Elmo Hardwoods, which has terrible customer servive including a big sign saying “We don’t cut down to length.” Last week I wanted 2ft of 8/4 walnut but they only had 9ft lengths that were twice as wide as I need. I just found Forrest Products in White Bear which seems to be a cabinet shop too. They seemed to have a decent selection and lots of cutoff scrap that is cheaper. They also have a Time Saver and are willing to thickness plane and/or sand for fairly cheap.
However, I was wondering if there a was a dedicated hardwood lumber yard that will have a bigger slection and oddball stuff that caters to woodworkers.

Root River Hardwoods is in Albert Lea and Preston. Go to http://WWW.rootriverhardwoods.com.

A couple that I have found to be excellent sources:
Youngblood Lumber in Northeast Minneapolis
http://www.youngbloodlumber.com/
Northern Hardwood in Cannon Falls (a nice drive!)
http://www.northernhardwoodinc.com/
Both offer discounts to Minnesota Woodworkers Guild members. Hope that helps!

If you need red oak, I live about 120 miles NE of the cities.
As Thew said, Youngblood.
I get pretty much all of my wood from them. The guys at the yard are very nice, and can be helpful to you if you are a newbie to buying lumber. One note--Don't go there on Sat morn if you can avoid it. Try to stop by during the week. The yard closes at 3:45 Pm.
Good luck

I too would urge you to get acquainted with Youngblood's, although I do like that place in White Bear (Forest Products), especially for odd ball stuff.

Thanks for all the links. Ill definitely have to take a look at Youngbloods soon.
You could do a search here on Knots (and maybe also over on the Breaktime forum) for past posts from Frenchie. He found a mill somewhere down by Cannon Falls, I believe, where he's bought a lot of wood. I seem to remember he was mainly getting unplaned rough stock, though.
