Woodshaver,
I dont know if this fits your style but the attached photos are of a piece that I made for a customer about a year ago. Please forgive the drawer fronts, I know that they look awful. The client really liked some hammered copper pulls that I made for a fumed QS white oak armoire so he asked me to incorporate them into his desk. They do not fit on the lighter colored red birch and maple. Not to mention the fact that I applied a beveled cherry frame that makes them look that much worse. Can you tell that I would do a few things differently if I did it again. Next time I would probably choose maple fronts and nickel plate the pulls or make some simple wooden pulls.
Good luck,
Tom
Absolutely spectacular! How do you find such dramatic maple? Do you put the question to a supplier and let him choose it for you?
Jimma,
I have been doing buisness with the same supplier for quit some time so he is usually happy to pull down a stack or two to let me pick what I want. However I must say that I got lucky on the 8/4 stock that I used for the legs.
Thanks,
Tom
Well, that just looks awesome! Nice work!My goal is for my work to outlast me. Expect my joinery to get simpler as time goes by.
Thank you
thats one nice desk, I love the curl in the wood, but the desk Im talking about looks like a bookcase with a fold out front, thanks for the pics very nice work. mark

Beautiful desk! Love the tiger maple, not a big fan of the copper pulls but hell, the guy that paid for it should get what he wants.
