It was just a normal day when it started. Went to the shop, washed the shop towels threw them in the dryer and cleaned up the shop. Took the clean towels (sorta) and put them and the screw gun box in the back of the truck to go to a job that was supposed to be a simple curtain rod replacement.
So here I am, driving down the highway and the light turns red. The person behind me is in a hurry so he passes me and hits a handicapped person in a wheel chair in the cross walk. I slam on my brakes to avoid the accident and get hit from behind. I ignore the guy that hit me and run to the aid of the person that was hit.. It was serious so I call 911 on my cell phone only to be grilled about everything that caused the accident to occur. I said simply that I am a certified paramedic and I am administering first aid to a possible terminal patient. That woke them up and shortly thereafter the real paramedics did arrive (by the way I am a real paramedic also but no longer certified). So, then I had to deal with the person that hit me except that person chose to leave the scene.
Fortunately, I drive a 1 ton GMC with a drop hitch which I just happend to have in since I was also on my way to another job later that required concrete. Well, we know by the grill pieces that were left on the hitch that it was a Ford that hit me so that made me feel a bit better.
O.K. so the curtain rod is up and the concrete is poured (no blown out forms thank god) and I’m thinkin its time for a beer. So I go to the tavern, sit down and catch heck from a guy that thinks I’m somebody else and did a lousy job on his bathroom remodel.
O.K. O.K. now I’m being real nice and decide that maybe a beer was not the right choice so I head to McDonalds for some fast food. I place my order, drive up and pay. Well, I get home and I’m not sure whose order it is that I got but I’m sure I didn’t order 4 apple pies and a large coke!
What a day !
By the way, the apple pies arent that bad but the coke was flat.

If more people like you were around the world would be a better place. At least the day didn't get worse as it got later.
Hope the handicapped person made it. If s/he did, they owe you big time. Lots of folks would have worried about the truck and not the "stranger".
And at least the idiot in the bar didn't punch you out ... :)

Hey no one, I know exactly where you are coming from. Retired firefighter paramedic with 32 years on the job. "As they say my friend, been there and done that." Boy am I glad I'm out of the rat race now. Woodworking every day in the shop except weekends.
Good luck:

I gotta grin. I love it when other people have misery too. The GMC thing - even though I drive an F350, it reminded me. Only time I ever got rear ended was in a friends brand new GMC 3500 dually with a drop hitch. How odd. And the winner? A little blue Honda CRX. The GMC lost a little paint off the hitch, the Honda was totaled. I really really wish I'd had a camera that day.
