After researching band saws I have decided on the Laguna LT14. I might add this is alot of money for my budget. So when I saw some customer reviews about horror stories of waiting months and some waiting so long they just gave up and cancelled thier order I am having serious second thoughts about purchasing one. Some reviews talked about the horrible customer service. Is their anyone that has had a past history with this company that can share their opinion?

I have purchased 3 machines from LT (one in 2000, one in 2004, and one in 2005). One was shipped to me immediately as a show model and the other two I had to wait approximately a month and a half to get. The show machine had some missing parts which Laguna took care of and shipped to me within about 3 weeks. I would have preferred this to have been quicker but it wasn't a big deal for me so I was not upset about it. Another minor problem with the start switch on the machine was taken care of within a week. I had absolutely no problems with the two other Laguna machines.
As another example of customer service, in 2004, I had a 1500 lb machine that was shipped to me for on-ground delivery. The freight carrier called to notify me of delivery and I asked about the on-ground delivery which the carrier then indicated that it wasn't on their order. Needless to say, getting a 1500 lb crate off the back of a truck with just me was a problem. One call to Carl at Laguna, resolved this situation and within 2 hours, I had calls from the carrier's LA office, local office and Carl indicating that this oversight had been corrected. Apparently this error was a result of being shipped directly to me from the show. Carl also called after delivery to make sure everything went as it should have. No company (or individual) is perfect including Laguna Tools and all of its competitors. While some may argue that this shouldn't have been an issue to begin with, I look at it as an indicator of how Laguna responds when things don't go exactly as they should. This is how I rate customer service and Laguna performed much better than I had expected on this.
I have a LT-18 BS and it was worth the wait. It is a most excellent piece of machinery, performs extremely well, and has given me no trouble at all in 5 years of use. I would recommend calling Laguna and finding out what a realistic ship date for the machine you want and decide based on whether it meets your needs. If you need it now and they don't have it to ship now, you probably need to look elsewhere or perhaps move up to a model that they do have available for immediate shipment. My experiences to date with Laguna have been positive and I will continue to do business with them.
