Most of you probably know this alread, so this is just a reminder because yesterday I forgot and ran my finger down a freshly cut piece of melamine. The result was a freshly cut finger. Not a bad cut but it certainly waranted a little first aid.

Steve, you're simply not having a healthy week, are you? :-( Thanks for the head-up though, since I'm about to make a small set of melamine shelves. Didn't realize it could get that sharp!
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I sure that most of those on this thread have had similar experiences with melamine (except me, of course, I've never hurt myself in my shop). OK, I lied just a touch. What I finally did to not get cut on the edges is to wear simple cotton gloves when I have to handle it. Since then, no cuts...just a few smashed fingers when you try to set it down. Good Luck, Len ( Len's Custom Woodworking)
ROFLOL, how do you deal with those sudden little wind gusts in parking lots of the lumber yard when no one is around to help you load the dang stuff. I ended up cracking my wrist in three places. Hey, I saved the wood, (and the side of the truck too).Steve - in Northern California
Steve,
OK let's get a little eastern here, I like to think of it as "Home Depot Karma". Next time your running in to get that one missing screw or wingnut or 10" doohickey take a look around the parking lot and notice the poor schnook trying to load a couple of 4x8 sheets of "heavy-as-hell" into his(and I'm not being sexist here, women ask for help, men don't) truck/minivan/SUV all by lonesome, and give the guy a hand. When he says"Thanks" just reply, in that certain guy in the parking lot way, "No problem, 'Home Depot Karma' pass it on." Before you know it we'll be exchanging hugs and wars will no longer exist and .....just a minute, I've got to wipe my eyes..
Have a good one and remember to lift with the knees, Big Daddy
Steve,
I cut myself under the fingernail handling melamine once. Ouch!
