From what I’ve been reading over at the WWA forum, it sounds like we should get a head count for the upcoming NW Knothead convention. To refresh memories, Friday and/or Saturday, October 25th and 26th, Pyramid Brewery 11:30 am or so. This is in conjunction with the Woodworking Show at the Seahawks Stadium Exhibition Center.
Just want to be able to estimate how many of us might show up, as Michael is doing over at WWA. So…who’s expecting to come, and which days??????
I have a couple of extra $2-off coupons. Dennis, do you still need one?? 1st hand up gets the other one.

Jamie: Hope you have fun there and have a few drinks and relax, could you please check out the Delta girls for me if they are there and say Hi for me?? <G>
Take care and have a good time at the show with all our Knot Head friends....

Doc -
Struck out totally - No major presence of Delta at the ww show thus - no Delta scroll saws in evidence nor .... Delta gals.
Next best, at least from the gal point of view, was the Delta display. Nice (from my limited knowledge base) scroll saw with a multi-directional blade and .... see attached...
Pyramid makes a "*Delicious*" stout and their pizza isn't all that bad, either.
Best wishes from Seattle to all. And before anyone asks, Jamie specifically forbid me from taking her picture. Dennis in Bellevue WA

Wow, Dennis, looks like you were in good company! Doc can take that pic and have it put on one of those custom-made coffee mugs.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I think I forgot to mention to Doc that my Internet hacker friends harvested his credit card number off the Internet and we signed him up for this new DeWalt machine. I think in the long run he'll thank us, won't he, Jamie.......???

Oh, I think he'll be forever grateful, tee hee. Is that blond going to deliver it personally??forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Dennis: Glad you had a good time at the show, but Im greatly disapointed that you didnt get jamies picture<G>.. Hey nice shot of you with the dewalt girl, wonder why Delta wasnt there?? oh darn no Delta Gals..
ToolDoc
Jamie: you little rascal why didnt you let Dennis take your picture, bet you didnt want all us guys to get to excited if we got to see you.. hmm sorry the blond Dewalt gal didnt do anything for me<G> now if it was a Delta pin up gal ooo there more Busty..LOL
ToolDoc
Hey - I was all ready to get a shot of us at the brew pup during lunch but didn't want to risk a broken jaw (hehehe) Had a great background with the brew house in the background, too.
I have a feeling these DeWalt gals new more about what they were selling than the young guys demo-ing the other machinery. Of course, based on what they seemed to (not) know, that's not saying much.
I'm a great believer in the youth of our country, but I would think a major payer wannabe like DeWalt would send around some grey hair with their traveling exhibit. (grin)

Dennis: you should of risked getting a picture, whats the most she would of done?? Ouch..<G> it would of been a once in a lifetime shot..you will probaly never ever get to take another one..Im sooo upset that Ill never get over it..LOL
Hey those blondes might not of known anything about Dewalt tools but atleast they were nice to look at..<G>

OH ... I don't think this is the last time there will be a local gathering of wood butchers in our area. Have patience, Doc. Next time we're all together and I'm beyond arm's length, I'll get a photo....!

DENNIS: I knew I could count on you!!!! now if we could just get Jamie to cooperate <G>.....

I'm a tentative (two people, dad's coming too) for the Saturday gathering. Where'd you get the coupon from? I'll take it :)
The coupons must be a result of being on a ton of WWing junk-mail lists. They are good for $2 off the $9 weekend pass, cash only they say. Not sure how to get them to you on Saturday though. At the Brewery? Will you want to go in before lunch? If you're only going for one day, they might not be off much help though.

I'm hoping to make both friday and saturday shows but friday *for sure*. Look forward to meeting everyone.

I absolutely *must* get a picture of me along side the Delta scroll saw that Doc's lavishing over and, of course, one of the Delta gals by my side to send to him!! I'll bring my digital camera if you would be so kind as to take the snap.
Thanks ....

Dennis: You and Jamie are the Best!!! if the Delta gals are not there get pictures of you and Jamie posing at the scroll saw <G>.. Thanks Pals..

OK, Doc, I gotta put an end to all this picture-taking nonsense. So...if you click on my name in any of my posts, you will arrive at my "profile" which now has a picture. One of those rare times when I was wearing a dress, no less. That means it's a couple years old (or more), but it should suffice!
So, you big chicken, where's your picture, LOL!?!?!?!?

Well, Doc, sorry to say I lost Dennis at the show! We stopped by PSWC and introduced ourselves to Michael, went our separate ways to find someplace to spend our money, and I never saw him again, LOL! Who knows, he may still be there, getting in some extra laps on the big lathes.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie -
Sorry we got separated but I think it was in your best interest. All I had on my mind was turning and I know that isn't your (current) line of thought. I did decide on the Fisch sander, though. They had a really good show special going. I'll have to run in to Seattle next week to pick it up since I had neglected to unload all the Land Cruiser parts that were in the back of my Bronco.
I never did find a specific Delta presence at this show, did you? In fact I thought it was smaller than last year.
Additions to the shop:
o-Stationary 6x48/12" sander
o-Grip-tite magnetic featherboards (post to follow in splitter/rivving knife thread)
o-3 1/2" forestner bit for hollowing out logs (bird houses of all things!
o-Vast quantities of brochures and flyers of other interesting things to put on the Christmas wish list.Dennis in Bellevue WA

Dennis, glad you had fun and found good places for your hard-earned $$$$s. I have one of those Grip-Tites, and plan to get another -- they are simply the cat's meow! Would have benefited from watching you decide between sanders though. Have fun this weekend.
PS: I wasn't there last year, so have nothing to compare. It was bigger than 2 years ago though. I was hoping Lee Valley would have a big booth, but only Veritas with planes and saws, which weren't on my list.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Grip-tite has a new twist on their idea - they've added a little roller with an abrasive surface around it that's mounted slightly slanted on the bottom of the device. That way it tends to push the workpiece against the fence at all times. I watched the guy take a piece of 1x4, run it halfway into the saw and then let go!
With the saw off I reached over and tugged on the board to see how much friction there was between this roller and the board - I could pull it out by hand but it did take some force.
The beauty of the two piece system is that the board's supported both in front of and *behind* the saw blade, no blade guard or splitter is required and, the device in front of the blade serves as a guard preventing one from advancing the hands anywhere close to the blade. The principle works best if the workpiece is pushed completely through the cut with a push stick rather than coming around to the outfeed side and pulling it through.
The system requires a metal face on the fence, though, so I decided to get the one they offered. what the hey - by the time I fabed up and polished a piece of 16ga sheet metal to emulate what they were selling I'd have more invested in my time than what their's cost anyway.

I'll be glad to, Dennis!! Make sure you dress appropriately to be posed with yellow and black, LOL!
I got the $2 coupon in the mail, postcard size thing. It's for the weekend deal.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
OK, looks like only 4 of us showing up from Knots at the Brewery on Saturday. Anyone going over on Friday 'sides me?
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie -
As of yesterday, looks like I'll only be able to make it on Friday, not both Fri and Sat as I had hoped to. Gotta run up North to the ranch to take care of business.
By the way, are we supposed to bring any 'show & tell' stuff? I've got my first ever natural edge bowl I'd like to bring to get some critique on. Do the folks from the wood web have any turners in their midst?

Dennis: Make sure I get a full report on all the Cool tools you and Jamie see there.. and be sure to keep a watchfull eye on our little friend while your both there.. have fun,be carefull...
ToolDoc
Dennis, I'd love to see the bowl. Turning is a mystery to me. I know there are turners over at WWA, don't know if any are coming on Friday, but I'm sure you'll get a big Wow! from me anyway.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Dennis, sorry to hear you won't make it Saturday. However, it would be great to meet with you on Friday. Look for me at the Puget Sound Woodworking Center (PSWC) booth. I don't know quite yet what I will be doing there but I will be there.
In addition, the folks at PSWC are pretty serious about turning. I am sure they would love to talk to you about your bowl. I believe Dan Johnson will be there doing demonstrations. He is a woodturning instructor and shows his work in a number of local galleries.
Until then...
Lomax
Thanks for the response, Michael. We may have met at the last show. I spent a fair amount of time at your display watching one fellow turning a small candle holder-I think that's what it was. Watching that demonstration pushed me over the brink for buying my first lathe.
Yeah, I was stretching it to devote two days for the show what with all I have to get done on two domiciles. But I'm sure I'll make up for it ... I can spend as much money on one day as two if I put my mind to it -hehehehe
Will you be at Pyramid?
