Heavy Lifting: The Biggest Thing I’ve Built
I have built a workbench out of solid maple boards with a 3-inch thick top. It is sitting top side down on a pair of store-bought trestles in my garage. My problem is that this bench is much too heavy and awkward to lift off the trestles, turn over and set down on the floor. I am leary of using a lifting frame for fear of bruising the bench aprons with the lifting straps and even then I don’t know how I would turn the bench over. I have not yet connected the base to the top. Would it be better to move just the top and flip it onto the base? How about just hiring somebody – movers with strong young backs perhaps, to do this? Any advice would be appreciated as I am almost at the critical juncture of needing to do this.

Ahead planning
Many years ago, I built a boat inside the large garage I had. The boat was 100 cubits wide, by 300 cubits long . . . ;-)
I'd position the base structure and then get help (lots?) to place the top on it. Then, fasten the assemblies together.
