HI
I recently pick up an old screw arm plow plane while with the family in the mountains of VA for $167.00, it is missing two of its screws and been repaired some time in its long life.
But I am having trouble reading the makers name on the plane.
What letters I can make out on the plane is KENDEL last two letters gone, and under that are some very small words but unreadable .
I hope someone can help me in identifying my plane , and what wood its made from.
Also I would like to find someone who could make the missing screws for me .
Thanks

First, keep in mind that one or both of those stamps could be owner's marks, rather than makers.
There were a handful of Kendalls who were planemakers in both Great Britain and the US. The only recorded stamp that looks anything like yours is from a Thomas Kendall of Baltimore in the 1830s. From his recorded marks, the second line is likely an owner's mark. It could be upside down?
The wood is almost certainly beech.
Thanks for the help John, I could not see clearly the letter A even close up , mistook it for an E
