Does anyone know of a book or where I can obtain information about secret draws and compartments. On where and how to conceal them and how the different mechanisms to operate them work.

FWW and i think woodwork magazines had articles about this two-three issues ago.
Fine Woodworking magazine(Issue 150, Dec. 2002, page 90) has a good article on creating hidden compartments and secret spaces in any style furniture.
Woodsmith(Vol. 22 #127, p.6) has plan for a Craftsman-style end table/coffee table with a drawer that has a secret compartment.
