Hi Everyone, Hopefully someone out there can help me out….
I am trying to preserve a number of turning blocks in their green state by coating them in wax (anchorseal), the problem is…. After several weeks some of them have started to grow mold!
At first I thought it was due to poor air circulation because the blocks that were near the bottom of the pile were much worse, but then I had a few pieces that were basically sitting out in the open start getting mold on them…
Anyone ever have this problem? How can I prevent this in the future? Is there a limit to how long you can store green wood this way??
Thanks,
Jeff

Being a Wood sculpture, I use a lot of wood right from the bush and cannot afford to lose wood to mold or other things....I stack my wood for one year out side and bring it in until I'm ready to use it, which normally would be another year...have not had the mold problem. When I cut lumber with the chain saw and stacked it, I got mold.....I solved that problem by painting paint thinner on the wood before stacking.
good luck
move a lot of air around the wood, it will slow the growth of any mold.. a fan aimed at the pile may be just the ticket or put it where there is a natural breeze.
