New to forums…first post. I appreciate any help you may be able to offer. I am a 2nd year rookie dust dweller and just did my first spray finish tonight with a Wagner conversion gun. I laid down a seal w/ sealcote which seamed to go on well. A quick sand w/ 400 and I was on to the Mosser’s waterborne spray laquer in satin. I ran the gun @ 16lbs resting and 8-10lbs spraying. The first coat went on a little bit thin for how slow I was moving so for the second coat I opened the fluid flow knob about 30% of the way. The laquer still seemed thin yet I used and entire quart on 1 3×6 table and halfway through the gun started sputtering and dripping out the nozzle while spraying. I checked the pressure and the valves and all appeared to be in order. I stopped, cleaned the tip up and started again but it still dripped a little though not as bad. I am a little discouraged after the gun seemed to get fairly good marks. Am I doing something wrong?

I would check the fluid needle and its other parts. I don't own a Wagner but this has happened with my DeVilbiss. Get out the manual and go through the parts schematic. It could simply be some debris or it could be a broken spring, cracked bushing, etc. A quart on such a small piece is a lot of product.
