I was looking at an edition of FW from a few months back and noticed that they listed the Milwaukee 0616-20 14 V cordless drill at around $140. I have been searching the web for somewhere in the Houston area that sells this model for a price anywhere near this and I just can’t find it. Does anyone know where I can get one in the Houston area for that kind of price? I have a brother living in the Houston area and I was hoping to be able to con him into bringing me a “present” when he comes up to Canada for a visit. They are $300 Can up here.
Also, do any of you have experience in rebuiding batteries for cordless tools? Is it as easy as it seems it should be?
Thanks for your help!

I'm not familiar with Houston, so I can't help there. Several of the professional tool outlets here will match Amazon prices, but you have to ask.
I would suggest starting another thread to catch the attention of people in that area -- something like "buying tools in Houston."
As far as the rebuilding batteries are concerned, generally what I have heard around Knots is that it isn't cost effective to have a service do it -- like Batteries Plus. However, if you know how to do it yourself, that's another story.
Thanks
I think Kent has given me the bad news that my hopes were getting too high.
My problem is that I have a couple of cordless drill for which all of the batteries have crapped out and it is more costly to replace the batteries than it is to buy a new drill. As a matter of fact, one new battery is just about the same price as a new drill with the case, charger and 2 batteries.
I think there must be a term for this; perhaps something like "forced obsolescence".
That's the reason some of us have way more cordless drills than we really need.
what kind of cordless drill is it(or are they)? there are sellers on Ebay for some of the more common drills who sell generic batteries. Some models seem to be a good deal.. However i have not used these generics and cannot vouch for them.. Maybe somone will chime in who has used them______________________________________________

Thanks
I will have a look there and amazon too
The price was an oops. There's a correction published in the latest issue of FWW. .
I should have known. That seems to be the way my luck goes. Thanks, I missed that correction.
Weasel, I can't help you with batteries, But I have converted several to plug into car cigarette lighters and they work for cordless' up to 14 volts.
I have a 7-1/2 volt one that runs like a bat out of hell on my car's 12 volt battery.
If you don't mind the extra bulk, you can attach them to a shoulder hung battery pac having one or two rechargable 12v lead/acid cells

Now that drummed up an ugly image: me falling off a roof with a couple of 12 V car batteries about to land on top of me. For a second there, I got an inkling of how the coyote felt.
Maybe it is time for me to go back to a brace and bit, backed up with an old Yankee screwdriver.
hmm.. i think id rather try to hammer the screw in______________________________________________
