   I have the F 1000 but I haven't had to find new blades for it.  I think I saw them listed in one of the woodworking catalogs but I don't remember which one; plus I'm getting old enough to not even remember when.

   When I bought the machine, the jointer came with out of plane beds.  Hitachi sent me new jointer beds but I still ended up having them worked on by a machine shop.

   The only complaint I have is with the snipe.  I can usually get rid of it and my dealer tells me to lower the bottom rollers but I'm afraid to mess with them. 

   I'll look in my catalogs and see if I can find a listing.

   Which "Hitachi folks" have you talked to? If only a local dealer, I would search out a corporate contact for Australia. At a minimum, they will be able to answer your question about compatibility of blades between the two planer models.

   And even if they no longer manufacturer blades for the F1000A, they might be able to give you a lead on where to find them -- somewhere in this great world of ours.

   Nikkiwood,

                   Thanks - that was my first move, a couple of weeks ago.  Unfortunately, my first contact was not at all helpful.  The young chap from parts was a little unkind and suggested my (15 yr old) machine is a dinosaur and they are not obliged to carry parts for it.  My second try was a bit more successful, and a more polite minion is loking into it for me.  So I have come to the forum for help - the F100 was much more widely marketed in Nrth. America, so I was hoping  there'd be lots more owners who could point me in the right direction....

   I found the Australian email address very quickly, and maybe you should try the same approach with the North American Hitachi office.

   Ain't the internet great????? --- world wide communications, and it's all free......

   It's hard to believe that there is not someplace in the world where you can find blades for this machine. It is just a matter of finding a person who can tell you where, and I would think finding someone inside Hitachi is your best bet.

   You should be able to take your blades to a grinding / machine shop that can make blades for you. A local company in Los Angeles has made them for me. IMO, they are better than the factory ones and cost less.

   BTW - I have the Hitachi PR12A.
