I can buy a 14″ Jet bandsaw for $300 in Tampa. Problem is, I live in Boston, MA. Freight companies charge approx. $200 for shipping.
Does anyone know a more economical way?
Thanks,
Randy.

How much is it if you buy one in Boston?
$200 seems pretty reasonable for something as heavy as a band saw. I doubt you'll find anything better.

I think a new 14" Jet bandsaw runs about $550. I would see if I could locate a dealer near Boston. Or, Tampa is beautiful this time of year. You could take a little bandsaw buying vacation and drive down to get it. It is about 24hrs. of drive time. Option #2 probably the more expensive way to go, but definitely the more fun.

rshelly,
Don't forget we do have the big woodworking show Jan. 12-13 in Springfield, MA...perhaps a great deal to be had...
I was in Tampa visiting my parents..$300 would have been a good deal if it weren't for the shipping. So I left on the plane without it.I've heard that you can get some good deals at the woodworking shows, and I was planning to attend the one in Springfield.A friend of my dad's was selling his entire shop (respiratory problems!) I picked up some Marples chisels, Sorby turning tools, a Stanley Bailey #5 plane, and a PC ROS sander......so I did ok.Thanks,
Randy.
