Hello, I recently bought these spring clamps:

they are much stronger than I need for my purpose and they are unconfortable to handle with that kind of pliers. I cannot open them with my bare hands. Are you familiar with a similar system made of rings that are less strong than this? Who sells them?
Thanks Enrico

Enrico,
Have a look at these:

I was aware of these, but they are definitely too small. I need an opening of about 8 cm (about 3-3.5 inches).

I have made my own out of bed spings. If you can find an old boxspring from a bed they are full of springs you can use. The guage of the wire is just about right.
You can bend them any way you want with a couple of plyers.
Sharpen the ends so they will grab the wood.
They are practicaly free and you can make as many as you need.
If the spring isn't strong enough you can just put two on.
enrico,
been using the ulima for many years. easy to use and very expensive, these days. sometimes the small dents, left by the springs, are unacceptable. one way i avoid the little dimples is to clamp a scrap piece to the finished one and let the spring clamp bite into that, rather than the finished part. this does make for a great many clamps all over the project at one time.
