Not sure how to do what I want . . . asking advice
These chairs go with the table on the post just prior to this one. Sorry for the confusion. I was seeking advice on how to finish this to enhance and protect the beachy washed out look that it has after sanding. The decor in my house is on the beachy side. I don't want to go whitewash or shabby chic, but I don't want to make the wood golden or dark in any way either. Anyway I am not sure how to proceed. Any ideas?
Finish
Are you trying to match the chairs to the color of the table?

Enhance and protect the beachy washed out look
You could experiment on scrap with two or three finishes to see if they give the results you like :
1. Krenov style "polish"

or
2. Rub on some hi crystalline wax

The link to the product supplier is still good
or
3. something I don't have much experience with but came to mind just now . . .
a well thinned varnish with a fair amount of flatting agent in it meaning low gloss finish that has silica dust in it. I understand one needs to stir up the sediment continuously while applying it to keep the silica in suspension. I have never used it so what do I know.

CAB lacquer?
I have been reading about finishes. I live in Nevada and I am thinking I might be able to brush on the Sherwin Williams CAB Lacquer here without too much trouble. I know it will take a long time, but I am fairly patient and the weather here is very dry most days, so I am thinking it could be an option. I am wondering though, would I be able to apply hi crystalline wax to the table top if it were finished with lacquer? Also should I use tung oil before the laquer? LOL seems the more I read . . . the more questions I have! Thanks!
Life on the beachy side
Almost any conventional "clear" wood finish (e.g. varnish or shellac) will tend to "goldify" light-colored woods, some more than others. You could try "super-blond" shellac, but that might still result in too much "gold" for your tastes. Some sort of white-ish paint "stain" might be what you are looking for.
Hmmmmm
But . . . you have the perfect nick . . you should know!
Surfside
It sounds so beachy though! :)
