Steve,
Tell me that you saved that long article that you typed up concerning the complete tuning of the contractor’s saw. If so, please post it again.
I saved it, but my computer has since been re-formated.

There ya go, "Jet Contractors Saw Tune Up" is the thread.

Steve, I just thought of something (Yes! thought of something!)
With your permission, I could place your post at my FTP/web site (web page is perpetually "under construction") and whenever someone asks about this, no searching would be necessary. Maybe it could develop into an FAQ page for standard tool problems that get answered over and over again.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Sure, although if you search this site for "Jet Contractor" then choose "Since the begining of time" as the search criteria, it shows up everytime. I like the idea of a FAQ. A few websites have been setup with tips and tricks but they only seem to cover the tools that they have personally. Might be kind of fun to put a site together that covers the whole gambit. Hey, I'm retiring on July 31st, it might just be what I need to take up the slack time instead of watching paint dry.Steve - in Northern California
I'll be glad to donate server space for such a place. When I get my Island Pastimes web site up and running, there will be a "Forestgirl" link for the woodworking, but even given that I won't come anywhere close to using up the bandwidth I'm paying for!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Hey this is kinda cool, I have my own personal thread... In my office at home I have five servers. Two of them are big compaq's that a customer bought and couldn't pay for so I repo'd them and wrote them off as a loss. They are only a year old. After I retire, I'm planning on putting them in the spare bedroom and running the 220 to them. I have to put an additional A/C unit in the room otherwise the room will average around 110 degrees all year round.
Once I get that and the DS3 line in, I've been thinking about either doing web hosting or maybe online sales of some sort. If I had lesser morals, and really wanted to make money, I would put up a porn site but... I guess I was just raised differently. Besides, where the heck would I get the materials.
I don't mind still being involved in the IT business as long as I can run the show. I've really gotten sick and tired of working in the big corporate IT business environment.
So maybe we can work on it together and you can host it. Then when I've got my stuff done we can move yours to mine and you can save yourself the bucks your paying.Steve - in Northern California
f_g .... What the heck is your first name anyway... I suspect its Jamie judging from posts from the past.
Anyway.. Heres a sample of what at FAQ site might look like. This one is pretty lame but it does have a nice layout.

Hey Steve, that is a pretty nice looking site! I haven't gone into it to read anything yet, but the layout is nice, as you said.
Yes, you're right, Jamie's the name. A bit of a story behind that: although there are many, many girls named Jamie nowadays, when I was in grade school, I was the only one around, and kept ending up on the boys' home room list. Amazingly, my mother's name was Jamie, and she was born in 1913, so I'd imagine she caused considerable confusion in their neck of the woods! At least the name is common enough now that people don't mispell it quite so much (Jaime, Jammy, Jaymey, and on, and on).
Know what you mean about the lucrative porn business. Maybe that's what an alter-ego is for LOL. As far as selling vs. web-hosting goes, I'd vote for web-hosting any day of the week, although I'd bet successful selling could provide a higher income. What would you sell, do ya think?
Have you done any web development? I have Front Page, and have messed around with it a bit, but I'm strictly a novice. I started trying to get my site outlined and developed last summer, but ended up having my right shoulder go bad on me, had surgery in October, and am just now able to sit and type and use the mouse without it sending the shoulder and arm into an alarm state. Still have to keep the time down somewhat though.
Hmmmmmm, I'm having a brainstorm that's web site/woodworker related, but not for public disclosure yet. I'll think about it for awhile, and if it passes the pondering test, I'll send you an email.
Later!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Well, maybe we can hide out here for a while. Hi Jamie, I thought that was you. Well, Run4 sure put a whack on what we were trying to accomplish didn't he. Sorry, I never meant it to sound like we were a couple or anything. I haven't a clue how he ever put that whole line of (excuse me) BS together. Well whatever, we are truly adults. But my question is, how in the heck did he figure out that you were my sister---- ROFLOL.. I'll bet he's jealous because he dosent have a sister as cool as you. Really.... I think its Luka with a different name... And.... just possibly a much different attitude.
Email me with your idea.. I'm open for anything and definitely ready to move. No.. probably shouldnt have said move, but I think you know what I mean.Steve - in Northern California
Run4wood? Who's that? :-)
One thing about being, well, shall we say "mature" -- you know, you're retiring -- is that there's little room in the brain to remember, let alone worry about, BS that's that stupid!
I'm watching the Portland dog show on TV while I type -- wish I could win the lottery! Oh, guess I should buy a ticket once in awhile. I love all the different breeds, but only have the mommy time to have 1 (absolutely beautiful, darling) cat!
I'll send you a note in the next couple of days if I think this idea passes the next stage of thought (I've only gotten as far as the "lightening bolt" stage, which is when an idea hits me and feels right. Usually, when it makes my ears stand up like Spock's, which this one did, it turns out to be a pretty good idea.) Suffice it to say, now, that it would involve a classy, sophisticated web site and woodworkers. Cool.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Yes, very cool. I'm for it.. My imagination wanders from elusive to extreme. Somewhere in between, I actually tend to make a living. You think about it and let me know, I can handle the technology, you just keep cutting ideas, ( and a lot of wood too..!).Steve - in Northern California
Jamie, I just was so happy to hear that you hadn't decided to quit posting that I didn't read all of your note. Too funny, I have just enough mommy time for my cat too, albeit daddy time I guess. His name is Mitch... I was polite when I named him and swapped out the B for an M. Have you ever thought about getting rid of yours...... No.. me either... LOL. How in the heck did I know your answer...Steve - in Northern California

Cute Kitty! My buddy Mitch won't even come in the house. He gets scared when he can't see the sky. I thought he was just a wierd cat but apparently its quite common. He got himself in trouble today by trying to rearange the garden again. I can't seem to keep him out of it. He's a digger believe it or not. Steve - in Northern California
Scatter a thin layer of little pyrocantha branches (or branchlettes) in and around the areas you want to protect the most. It might work! OUch! OUch!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
