My B&Dcordless drill just bit the dust after 10 years. At least the batteries have.
Can anyone suggest the next model. Have been partial to Porter Cable for years
but with all new models and new types of batteries I am feeling s little lost.
Could any of you experts help me please

I have a 12 or more year old Makita stick handle and just recently bought the 14.4 Dewalt. The Makita has been a faithfull tool but the Dewalt blows it away. I would hesitate to recommend the Dewalt for someone doing full time work since it doesnt seem like it would take a lot of abuse. I don't own a PC but I have tried them out and they definitely seem to be sturdier. Have you considered the Firestorm Kit... Theres a lot of bang for the buck there and if you're not into heavy construction it might just be the ticket.

hi Steve
Thank you for your help with my problem about replacing
my drill. Is there much difference between the different
types of batteries?
Good question about the batteries. I know that you can by the standard or high end for the Makita's and they seem to be readily available. Unfortunately, from what I've been able to tell most of the batteries are specific to the drill or its series. It would be nice to have a universal battery wouldn't it!Steve - in Northern California

I bought the Porter-Cable 12 volt model about three months ago. I would go for the 14.4v. I got it at Sam's Club, BTW, at a better price than at Home Depot. I didn't notice until later that it was made in Taiwan too. I wouldhave gone for the Milwaukee had I known.
