I used to post here often but lately (since they changed to the new format) I haven’t had the chance. I have been steadly working on projects but it everything I have been doing as of now came to ascreeching halt last Thursday. I had to go the a local hospital because of a lump on the side of my neck and difficulty swallowing food. Turns out I have Esophageal Cancer and I need Chemo as soon as possible. This happened due to acid reflux over the years so if you have it get HELP now before it’s too late. I am sorry I haven’t been as faithful to posting as some of you.

Get well soon, Dave.
Get Well
Sorry to hear about your medical issues, and thanks for the warning. I hope that you have great success with your treatment.
What we're all about
Helping and warning one another of problems. We deeply thank you for the warning ! And tomorrow at Church I will put you on our prayer list. A little prayer to the Master Carpenter is a good thing.
Diagnosis
Dave,
I am truly sorry to hear of your diagnosis.
I know the issues involve both the psychological as well as the physical impact on your life patterns. "Think sawdust" and you will find positive directions for the future. (Try to stay away from thinking about complex joinery problems. They only cause me to lose sleep.)

Thank you for the warning. I hope you can keep woodworking through your recovery. In any case glad you are back here.
Post some pics of your rocksteady projects.

Dave:
Chemo can be a long and sometimes difficult haul. Hang in there, pay attention to your MD and do everything you are asked to do. Make sure you trust your doc and he's good at what he does. All that can aid in a good recovery. It helps that there have been huge advances in treatment in the last few years.
Best wishes,
Jim
update
The doctor had me do a PET scan where they inject you with a radioactive sugar solution that adhears to fast growing cells. Well, the cancer is in my neck, lymph glands more or less, my entire esophagus, aderlian glands and a tumor on my kidney. On Friday the doctor inserted a feeding tube in my stomach so I can get some nutruionial drinks in me. My woodworking is on hold but my nephew stepped up and fininshed a project for me and my customer have been great about it.
Thanks for all your kind words, prayers and thoughts.
Dave
Hey man, you take care of yourself. I will keep you in my prayers and you keep as positive as possible. My wife had a brain tumor about 3 years ago and she had treatment with radiology and it has not changed in size in three years. I know things look scary right now but science has done wonderful things. I'm sure you will be back in the swing of things again soon!
