My name is Chad Boehlke and I am a woodworker in Nebraska.
I have been making portable writing desks for about two years.
This one in the photo is a Georgian style of the late 1700s and
is patterned off of one that was made about 1810.
Wood: Mahogany box with inlay sides of Walnut, eucalyptus, and
a unknown South American wood. The top of the box is a dark grain
of unknown wood with I think a butternut top (from a pallet). Writing surface is 1/4” Birch plywood to prevent warping.
Other Materials: Brass hinges, lock, Goose Neck handles, corners, with
green felt writing surface.
Finish: stained and hand rubbed polyurethane
Approx. weeks to complete: 4 weeks
Dimensions: 24.5” depth, 16” width, 5” height

Hi Chad,
I like your work - what I saw of it. Shortly after I opened your web site I got a message from my browser that your site was trying to access information on my machine that it did not have authorization for. I immediately closed the site.
What's up with that?

Sorry, I have a site at angelfire.com, its a free web site place. I have post a pic to look at.
I'm certain you can find inexpensive web site space that won't violate your viewers' privacy the way Angelfire does. Don't remember specifically what happened when I visited a web site there last year, but it caused me quite a headache, and I never, never open links that involve their site.
I did some web site research last year, and found one that was good and inexpensive, maybe $10/mo. If you want, I can hook that computer up and find the URL.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Yes I should, but money is a little tight right now, new baby. I at one time had a site for $5.00 a month, but the company went out and I did not know about it. They also keep chargeing a cedit card a bunch of stuff. I am looking right now. Thanks. Chad
Chad, how much personal web space do you get with your ISP connection??? forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Yes I did look in to how much space. My ISP has 3 MB free and my web site is 399.4 KB, so I will look in to it. Thanks.
Great! Since you're not using a "boehlkewoodshop.com" type URL, you might as well use your free web space. If you don't like whatever FTP program they might provide to transfer files, I'd suggest CuteFTP if you have a little $$ to spend, or SmartFTP for a freebie.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I got my website through Yahoo!. It's $12/month and they give you templates to help with your web page. You can upgrade to a more professional site with shopping carts and payment buttons once your business is up and running. Plus, Yahoo! is a legitimate business that won't play games with your credit card and they keep their prices low to compete with Google.
Tell me and I'll forget, show me and I'll remember, but let me try and I will understand.
i am also new to this site but if i could recommend Go daddy.com for web site building its cheep and they offer alot also myspace is free! good woorking to ya all
Welcome aboard lenny101! Those sites are good too. Plenty of free sites out there that won't give off spyware programs.Tell me and I'll forget, show me and I'll remember, but let me try and I will understand.
I never open anything that's located at Angelfire. Learned the lesson last year!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I like your work too, but I agree with the others that you should get your stuff off that site.
I got a couple of annoying pop-ups -- even though I am using Foxfire (which generally blocks such ads).
